Salvo '99 Green Wins Division Title at Canton Cup 2010
Congratulations to Jonathan Pickett’s Salvo ’99 Green team who won the Boys’ U11 Blue division at the 28th Annual Canton Cup Memorial Weekend tournament.
Salvo opened the tournament with a win on Saturday May 29th 5-2 over the Michigan Jaguars Black in the 7 a.m. game.
A few hours later, Salvo took the field again at 2 p.m. for a 4-4 draw against the Michigan Burn ’99 Black.
On Sunday May 30th, Salvo beat Hartland SWAT 4-2 in the morning game, and in the finale at 4 p.m. they beat SOCS Force ’99 Navy 5-2 to claim the division title.
Over 670 teams competed in 1,100 games involving 8,700 players for this annual tournament that has been in place since 1982.
 
Salvo '98 and '00 Green Teams Take Home Cherry Capital Cup Titles
The Salvo ’98 (U12) Green team coached by Eric Springer took home the tournament's top honors at the Cherry Capital Cup, hosted by Traverse Bay Area Youth Soccer (TBAYS) and held in Traverse City the weekend of May 15-16.
Salvo beat the Strikers Kujawski 3-0 in their Saturday morning tournament-opening game and followed up that performance with a 2-1 win in the noon game against the host club from TBAYS, North Storm '98.
On Sunday, Salvo took down two more opponents with a 2-0 win against the Red Arrow Rebels in the 10 a.m. game, and a 3-0 decision over the Oxford Wildcats in the 3 p.m. game.
Salvo's four game sweep in the U12 Boys Select division earned them the top spot and tournament champions title in their group. The Salvo '98 Green team roster features Benjamin Matheson, Brandon Simone, Brian Garvey, C. Trevor Stormes, Christian deRuiter, Garrett Weidig, Graham Ryan, Griffin Murray, Jack Kennedy, Jackson Rosati, Kristian Uldbjerg, Seth Carolan, Wyatt Puscas, and Zachary Stanczyk.
Coach Springer's Salvo '00 (U10) Green team also swept their four-game tournament opponents to take home the championship for the U10 Boys Select division with wins over the Tri-Hawks (8-2), Muskegon Lakers (2-1), Dearborn (4-1), and a 4-3 win in the championship game on Sunday at Keystone Soccer Complex in a rematch with the Muskegon Lakers. The Salvo '00 Green team roster features Brendan Bergeron, Tommy Kohler, William Muawad, William Perkins, Sebastian Simon, Dylan Watts, Jack Streberger, Ferg Roby, and Philipp Hutteman.
Congratulations to coach Springer and his Salvo '98 and '00 Green teams for their perfect 8-0 combined tournament record and stellar performance on behalf of GPSA in Traverse City!
Salvo '01 Green U9 Wins National Indoor Championship!
The National Indoor Championship, sanctioned by the United States Indoor Soccer Association since 1994, was held at the Total Sports Complex in Novi on March 6-7.
GPSA's Salvo '01 Green team beat Waza FC 5-4 in the U9 Boys Division II final. This title marks the first time that a GPSA team has won a national tournament at the U9 level.

The Salvo 99 Green U10 boys team won the Cherry Capital Cup in Traverse City,
winning their first three games 7-1, 13-0, 8-0 and the final 3-2.

Breakers '98 Green Celebrates Mother’s Day with Tournament Win
The Breakers ’98 (U12) Green team capped off Mother’s Day weekend at the 2010 Novi Jaguar Invitational Tournament by winning the Girls U12 Elite Division under the direction of head coach Chris Graczyk.
The tournament was held the weekend of May 7-9 in Livonia and Novi. Travel teams from various age divisions and throughout the state of Michigan competed in the annual tournament.
Despite the wet and cold conditions during the tournament, the Breakers advanced to the finals on Sunday, May 9th by earning a 2-0-1 record that included wins over the Michigan Burn (2-0) and the Plymouth Reign (3-0), with a tie against the Dexter Shockwave (1-1).
The division's championship game featured a rematch with the Burn at Schoolcraft College. The Breakers won the rematch by a 2-1 score to secure the tournament title and celebration on Mother’s Day.
Breakers’ goalkeeper Emily McPharlin was solid between the posts by recording the fewest goals allowed in the tournament’s division.
The Breakers’ defense and midfield units provided solid defense and kept the opposition off the scoreboard, while the forwards netted the highest goal total in the tournament’s division with eight tallies.

Breakers 97W Take 1st Place!
Moving up a division from the Fall '09 season didn't phase these girls a bit!
The Breakers 97W took 1st place in the MYSL U12 Gold division.
Breakers '01 Green Take 1st Place!
The U09 Breakers '01 Green team is MYSL's Major Blue division champs for the Fall '09 season with a record of 5-0-1,
a tournament win in September. Through team work and dedication, the U09 Breakers '01 Green team is undefeated in 10 games!
The team will go on to play in MYSL's Premier division in the Spring '10 season. Way to go girls, and good luck in division 1!

Breakers 98W Win Waterfront Invitational!

On Sunday August 16th, 2009 the GPSA Breakers 98 White team won the St. Clair Shores Waterfront Invitational U12 girls championship.
The girls played three games Saturday, on one of the warmest days of the summer.
Their journey to the championship began in the morning with a 6-0 victory against the LA Vipers of West Bloomfield. Later that afternoon,
the Breakers were matched up against the RSC Lightning and won 3 -1.
The final game of the day was against a tough SCS Spitfires team during which the girls earned their second shut out of the day, winning 4 - 0.
The championship game was played on Sunday morning when the Breakers once again faced the St. Clair Shores team.
The girls earned a decisive 5-0 victory in the final game! The Breakers only allowed 1 goal the entire tournament! We are proud of you girls!

Breakers 99 Green Finalists In 2 Tourneys!

The Breakers 99 Green team took 2nd place in two tournaments this summer.
The weekend of August 14 - 16th in the Rush Tournament in Northville,
and the weekend of August 28 - 30 in the Midland Fusion Invitational Tournament.
They played hard and didn't lose a game in regular play.
They lost 1-0 in the Rush Tournament final to the host team MI Rush.
In Midland, the final game was tied after regulation play and 2 overtime periods.
The girls fell 3-2 in a heartbreaking shoot out. Well played, ladies!
Breakers 01 Green Win Force FC Invitational!
The U09 Breakers 01 Green team won the Force Football Club Invitational with 4 straight wins!
Outstanding finish, girls!
